Folklore and Fairytales: Story Writing
Step into a world of lore where anything is possible!
In the Folklore and Fairytales workshop, dragons roam, knights ride to glory, magicians cast spells and new worlds are ready to be discovered. Workshop designer LEO invites all who love adventure and excitement to help us rewrite the stories that we love.
What happened to Goldilocks after she ran away from the three bears’ house? Was the big bad wolf really that bad, or just hungry? What else was in the world that Jack found at the top of the beanstalk?
Help us bring the classics to life in new ways. Together we will create new stories for our favorite characters, and create new characters for our favorite tales. In this workshop we will explore the themes of folklore, learn about the story structure of fairytales, and create new versions of our favorites that will become our own modern tales.
At the close of each camp week, all of our new creations will be complied into a digital FairyTale anthology. Copies will be emailed to families so that our tales can be shared.
Along the way, we will:
Perform and interpret scenes from classic fairytales
Invent new characters to insert into traditional stories
Develop critical reading and creative writing skills
Write new endings to a famous stories, which will be published into a digital FairyTale anthology
Learn from each other and from our experienced instructors
Make lots of new friends!
